Mastercard Hotelnacht is a household name in Amsterdam; every year, the city’s most beautiful hotels open their doors to locals, giving them the chance to experience what it’s like to go on vacation in their own city for one night. This comes with all kinds of quirky events and, speaking from experience, it’s guaranteed to be an evening you won’t soon forget. So round up your squad!

Hooray, 10 years!

This year’s edition has a special edge to it: Mastercard Hotelnacht is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Time, then, for extra cozy and crazy parties, special dinners and hangover brunches, which all Amsterdammers can visit at around 20 different hotels.

Hotel festival

During the two-day festival, Hotel Casa will offer a preview of the Holland Festival, Hotel 717 will host a stylish afternoon tea, and soul lovers can sing along with Mokum Soul at the Hard Rock Hotel. This year, you can of course also spend the night at 5-star hotels Pulitzer, Krasnapolsky and Okura, while restaurant Celia at the Kimpton de Witt hotel will serve a much-needed hangover breakfast after all the cocktails.

Dutch evening at Café Nol

An extra highlight this year is the Dutch evening at Café Nol. For this tribute to the capital, Taiko Bar at the Conservatorium Hotel will be transformed into an Amsterdam pub for one night. Chef Schilo van Coevorden will serve an old-Dutch yet chic selection of bar snacks, including langoustine frikandellen with caviar, a wagyu beef frikandel and his award-winning cheese soufflé with black truffle. The evening will be completed with Dutch hits by Café Nol’s resident folk singer, and the pikketanussie will also be waiting at the bar. Pikketanussie? Yes, you’ll have to look that one up.

Carstens Fried Chicken Snackbar

Also delicious: this weekend, Carstens Brasserie will become Carstens Fried Chicken Snackbar. From David Chang-style buttermilk fried chicken with caviar to chicken satay loaded fries and a crispy chicken caramel sundae, the team has poured all its passion into creating this special Hotelnacht menu (walk-ins from 18:00 (orders can be placed until 21:00).
