Beware: Lidl warns about meatballs
We make no secret of our love for Lidl. We’ve been fans of their happy eggs for years, as well as their Kipster meatballs. The Kipster Indonesian-style meatballs are now subject to a recall. Due to a production error, a number of packages contain an incorrect label.
As a result, the allergens wheat, barley, mustard seed, milk, soy and celery are not listed on the packaging. This is unfortunate if you are allergic to one of the ingredients mentioned above.
Love for laying hens
Let’s briefly return to those meatballs and their many fans, because why are these meatballs so popular? Well: producing eggs does not only result in laying hens being born, but also their brothers, the roosters. These roosters are often killed shortly after birth because they do not lay eggs and produce less meat than broiler chickens. Not so with the brothers of Kipster’s laying hens; they grow for 16 weeks on an organic farm and are processed into various meat products, such as the Kipster Indonesian-style meatballs.
Check the best-before date
This concerns the Kipster Indonesian-style meatballs with a best-before date of 30-11-2022. The product itself is safe, but according to Lidl, anyone allergic to the undeclared ingredients should not eat it. If that applies to you, you can return the product to the store and receive a refund of the purchase price.
