Bob Ross has a cookbook and it’s delicious

BobRoss-Favorflav

Cookbooks are flying around the FavorFlav editorial office, especially those by celebrities. Now this is a surprise: a Bob Ross cookbook. With two hundred recipes for people who are so busy painting that they don’t have time to cook.

Don’t know Bob Ross? Then visit his YouTube channel, especially if you come home after a night out and need to chill for a while before you can go to sleep. The music from The Joy of Painting, that soothing voice, the ‘happy little accidents’ and everything with burnt sienna and Van Dyck brown—it’s all equally relaxing. And I haven’t even mentioned Peabod the squirrel yet.

Happy little roasted chicken

The book The Joy of Cooking wasn’t made by Uncle Bob himself—the great painter died in 1995, when he was just 52 years old. The cookbook features recipes collected from friends and people who learned to paint according to his (certified!) method. The book contains not only the recipes for ‘Happy Little Roasted Chicken’ and ‘Golden Sunset Shrimp Scampi’, but also anecdotes from Bob’s life. Did you know, for example, that he absolutely hated his afro? He grew it out to save money, but once his silhouette had been incorporated into his company’s logo, he could never change it again—and that frustrated him, his business partner says.

Don’t cook and paint at the same time

Warning: don’t cook and watch videos of Bob at the same time. It has been proven that many people fall asleep when they hear his voice, and you don’t want to wake up to the fire department putting out a fire in your utility room. Bob didn’t mind at all, by the way, that people fell asleep during his television program.
