Brilliant: Albert Heijn is going to sell ‘spoonable tompouce’
Dollops of cream with pieces of pink-glazed puff pastry that you can simply spoon out of a container. So it’s a tompouce, but deconstructed. Sounds genius, right? This new tompouce snack, also known as the ‘spoonable tompouce’, is now on the shelves at Albert Heijn.
Our number-one favorite quintessentially Dutch pastry is without a doubt the tompouce. In its classic form or with a strawberry twist like this one from HEMA. But HEMA isn’t the only place where you can buy delicious tompouces; this supermarket also has a tompouce that’s definitely a winner!
A bite of tompouce
Albert Heijn’s ‘spoonable tompouce’ is made with pieces of puff pastry left over from cutting the tompouces. Anyone who has ever baked tompouces at home knows that you always have some pastry scraps left over if you want every tompouce to be neat and uniform. The same goes for the AH bakery. These pieces are combined with the delicious cream in a container, giving you a bite-sized tompouce in no time.
That means it’s not only incredibly delicious, but it also helps prevent food waste and is much easier to eat than a traditional tompouce. So it’s a win-win-win. The ‘spoonable’ tompouce can be found in the cake section at Albert Heijn for €2.
