Brut172 by Hans van Wolde ranked number 1 in the Lekker500 (2025 edition)

The new Lekker500 has been published. This time, first place does not go to De Librije. It is last year’s number 2, Hans van Wolde, who has taken the top prize with his restaurant Brut172.

A few months ago, I ate at Brut172 and I can only say that it was a unique experience. Tucked away in Reijmerstok in South Limburg, SVH Master Chef Hans van Wolde and his team cook you straight into seventh heaven. We predicted that he would be a strong contender for a third Michelin star this year. That did not happen, but his innovative outlook and creative ideas have been rewarded this year with first place in the Dutch restaurant guide.
Lekker500: De Librije drops slightly
Hans van Wolde was ranked number 2 last year and has swapped places with Jonnie and Thérèse Boer of De Librije. In third place is a fast climber: Jarno Eggen and Cindy Borger with restaurant De Groene Lantaarn in Staphorst. They rose no fewer than seven places to number three. They are followed by Jan and Claudia Sobecki with Tribeca in Heeze.
Numbers 5 to 9
Spectrum by Sydney Schutte is in fifth place. Emile van der Staak rises to sixth place with De Nieuwe Winkel in Nijmegen. This means a few steps down for Bas van Kranen of Flore in Amsterdam (to eighth) and Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot of 212 in Amsterdam (to seventh). Fred Mustert and his wife Mirjam continue to deliver consistently top quality at restaurant Fred in Rotterdam and therefore remain firmly at number nine this year as well.
Newcomer in the Top 10
This edition of Lekker500 features the most newcomers since 2019. This year, there is not only a new number one in the Lekker500, but also a new name. Restaurant De Leuf in Ubachsberg is in tenth place. Another notable newcomer is Restaurant Showw in Amsterdam. Chef Dorus Floris and sommelier and co-owner Lendl Mijnhijmer opened the establishment less than a year ago and were recently rewarded with a Michelin star. With Restaurant Showw, they are also the highest newcomer in this year’s Lekker500 list, at number 45.
