This restaurant in the Netherlands has held a Michelin star the longest

Yesterday (October 7, 2024), the new Michelin stars of 2024 were awarded. The full selection in the Dutch Michelin Guide includes 501 restaurants, including 122 starred restaurants. Notably, we now have only 1 three-star restaurant in the Netherlands (De Librije). Also notable, but much less well known, is that one restaurant has also been listed in the guide consecutively for the 53rd time (!).

That honour goes to restaurant De Kromme Dissel, located in the middle of the woods in a characteristic Saxon farmhouse in Heelsum.
A Michelin star since 1971
Never before has a Dutch restaurant held a Michelin star on its façade consecutively for so long—a unique achievement in the Netherlands. Under the leadership of chef Tonny Berentsen, traditional flavours are combined creatively with modern cooking techniques, using mainly seasonal and local ingredients.
And an extra treat: the culinary experience at De Kromme Dissel, part of the adjacent Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Klein Zwitserland for the past five years, no longer ends after dinner.

A weekend at De Kromme Dissel
To further develop the ‘Kromme Dissel experience’, the restaurant has been expanded with a sunny garden room (where the five-course breakfast is also served) and 18 luxury suites. So from now on, you can not only enjoy a wonderful star-rated dinner by chef Tonny Berentsen, but spend an entire weekend dining, staying overnight and having breakfast at star level. That means you don’t have to pass up the delicious wines from sommelier Ronnie Brouwer either. Sounds wonderful, right?
