Careful: Albert Heijn warns about bitterballen
Bitterballen, love them. The only downside: the portions are always too small. Oh yes, and you always burn your mouth. Albert Heijn is now warning about something completely different: due to an error in production, Mora Nacho Cheese Bites were accidentally packaged in packaging material intended for Mora Mini’s Beef Bitterballen. A small disaster for people with an allergy.
Because they are now missing the information they need; the allergens MILK and BARLEY (GLUTEN) contained in Mora Nacho Cheese Bites are not listed on the packaging. If you have a milk or barley allergy (or don’t like cheese), this is no fun.
Check the lot code
This concerns the Mora Mini’s Beef Bitterballen packaging (see accompanying image) with lot codes 214002210 through 214002313 and best-before date 05-2023. The lot code is stated on the back of the packaging. All other Mora Mini’s Beef Bitterballen packages, other than the package specified above, do not pose this risk and can be safely consumed.
What now?
If you are not allergic to milk and/or barley, you can safely eat these balls. Allergic to either of the above? Cut the specified lot code out of the packaging and send it to Mora (Consumer Service, Antwoordnummer 65013, 5000 VH Tilburg), including your name, address, IBAN bank account number and the name of the account holder. Mora will then refund the purchase price, including any postage costs.
