Chicken nugget in space: who comes up with this?!
To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of supermarket Iceland, the store launched a chicken nugget into space. The nugget went 110,000 feet into the air, which converts to 33 kilometers. Attached to a small parachute, the crispy chicken snack came drifting back down after just under two hours.
The British company Iceland is similar to what used to be called IJspaleis in the Netherlands. They specialize in frozen products, and during lockdown in particular, they can barely handle the crowds. The store has been around for fifty years and wanted to celebrate with a unique stunt. Who came up with the idea of blasting a nugget into the atmosphere is unknown. The supermarket was helped by the company Sent Into Space, which had previously blasted an engagement ring toward the atmosphere for a marriage proposal.
