Chocolate snow in the mountains caused by a defect at Lindt factory
While we were rewarded with a bucketful of rain after a days-long heatwave, things happened a little differently in a village in Switzerland. There, the rain didn’t consist of raindrops but chocolate (powder) snowed down instead. Jealous!

Chocolate snow: you’d think something like that could only happen in the chocolate factory from Willy Wonka. Yet it really happened in the Swiss village of Olten. But snow made of chocolate? How? A technical problem in the ventilation system of chocolate manufacturer Lindt (the maker of that incredible chocolate boutique) was the cause. Instead of filtering the cocoa powder swirling around, it ended up in the open air.

The strong wind that day caused everything in the streets to be covered in a thin layer of cocoa powder, like this car. Okay, it may not have rained brightly colored Lindt bonbons, but not many people can say they live in a village that was once covered in cocoa powder.
