It’s Christmas, including at 24Kitchen. Alongside the crackling fireplace on SBS6, today you can watch (and listen) to the pan of simmering ragout made by Rudolph van Veen on the cooking channel during your Christmas dinner.

A few weeks ago, SBS6 announced that it would broadcast nothing in the evenings during the Christmas holidays, except for a crackling fireplace onto which a log would occasionally be thrown. All this was intended to emphasize the Christmas spirit of togetherness. As we have come to expect from them, online platform De Speld responded hilariously with an article about 24Kitchen’s remarkable experiment and the digital theme channel.

Togetherness and ragout

But after people found out it was a joke, disappointed reactions came pouring in. The channel then decided to broadcast the pan after all. So today, at various times, you can see and hear the pan of ragout bubbling on TV (at 10:49 a.m., 12:36 p.m. and 4:39 p.m.), and on YouTube you can watch Rudolph’s Christmas ragout from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. After all, Christmas is about togetherness and ragout, right?
