Corona news: Mexican brewery temporarily stops brewing Corona
Weekend, sunshine, loaded nachos and a cold beer in the garden (where else?). It’s possible, but no longer with a Corona and a wedge of lime pressed into it. Because the Mexican brewery is temporarily stopping the brewing of Corona beer.
This week, the Mexican government declared a health emergency. On Thursday, the country recorded 1,510 infections and 50 deaths. At the same time, all non-essential business activities were suspended: everything not aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus. And that is also the immediate reason why Corona beer production is now stopping.
Agriculture or not?
Incidentally, this does not apply only to Corona; Mexican brewery Grupo Modelo is also stopping the brewing of its other brands that are exported worldwide. Still, the brewer is keeping its options open. Agriculture and food production are considered essential activities, after all, and isn’t beer also an agro-industrial product? Well, we’ll have to wait and see what the Mexican government has to say about this. Until then, perhaps have a crate of Grolsch delivered to your front door?
