Creative with tea

Research results on the effect of eating and drinking on our mental and physical health fluctuate like stock market reports. As a result, we often only believe what suits us. But the research that 24/7 tea drinker Marjan discovered is, of course, simply one hundred percent true: tea makes you creative.

Reports about the most widely drunk beverage in the world have been consistently positive for years anyway. So you won’t hear me complaining. Thanks, for example, to its antioxidants, drinking tea has a calming effect, leads to better digestion and mood, and reduces the chances of heart disease. Bingo.

Creative with tea

But the latest news from a group of researchers from Beijing University in China fits my outlook perfectly. In the country with the world’s largest tea production, they discovered that you are considerably more creative when you drink a number of cups of tea spread throughout the day. According to them, the factor that makes this possible is probably theine, which is already known to help you focus for longer.

So drinking tea makes you creative. Bingo!

The researchers must have drunk a lot of tea themselves. Their experiments were quite creative, after all. In one of them, a group of water drinkers and a group of tea drinkers were asked to come up with a ‘cool’ name for a new ramen restaurant. The tea drinkers came up with by far the most creative names.

Objective

How do you objectively measure which ‘cool’ name is more creative than the others? With a good number of cups of tea under your belt, you can of course come up with a very creative method for that.
