Dear Burger King, can we talk about the bacon burger?

Burger King has a new showstopper: the bacon lover menu. Good news for the bacon lovers among us (me, me!). I put it to the test, but regretted it after the very first bite…

Switzerland
The world of foodies is becoming polarized. Slowly but surely, two camps have formed: the vegetarian/vegan camp and the meat lover camp. We play the role of Switzerland here; we want the best of both worlds. We happily tuck into vegan chicken burgers just as easily as an old familiar frikandel. But apparently, you can take things too far.
Fat, fattier, fattiest
I’m not crazy. When I walk into Burger King intending to eat a bacon lover menu, I know I’m about to tuck into a greasy meal. But I’ve rarely experienced food as greasy as this burger. When the burger was placed in front of me, I already had to swallow for a moment: it looked as though it had been glazed like a doughnut. When I picked up the burger, the grease dripped in thick drops down my hands, along my arms and into the sleeves of my sweater. From bacon heaven, I ended up in bacon hell.
Flavor
So, too greasy. But what about the flavor? It’s pretty okay, provided you like bacon, of course. The bacon pieces in the bun are a nice touch. The loaded fries you can order with the menu for €1 are actually really tasty. Still want to try the menu after hearing about my experience? Then here’s one golden tip: order an extra drink right away. Because of the overload of salty flavors, you’re constantly thirsty and your soft drink will be gone in no time. After that, detox for a while in vegan camp.
