Drink rare wines by the glass: now you can!
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a good wine for drinks and snacks, but sometimes you (at least I do) crave something truly special. A wine that transports you with every sip. But yes, those are precisely the wines that are almost impossible to drink. Because they’re either unaffordable or simply impossible to get hold of, they’re so rare. That’s why the World Wine Tour is such a great idea: throughout the entire month of September, it offers the opportunity to taste the most exclusive wines. By the glass.
This is the first time that the World Wine Tour, an initiative by Coravin, has landed in the Netherlands. The wine tour also takes place in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Australia. It’s no surprise that Coravin was the one to launch this event: this ultimate wine gadget allows you to pour a glass of wine without removing the cork from the bottle. That sounds like pure magic, of course, and in this video we reveal the trick.
World Wine Tour
Back to the World Wine Tour: it takes place at two locations, namely wine bar Oocker in Amsterdam (named Wine Bar of the Year 2024) and wine bar NOTK in Rotterdam (where co-owner Lukas Wiegman was named “Best Sommelier in the Netherlands”). Both wine bars offer various tasting menus featuring a selection of special wines, all available to taste by the glass. Great, because this allows you to taste different vintages of the same wines and/or discover new wines and wine regions, including wines that are normally rarely available by the glass.

From September 1 through 30, you can put together your own personal ‘wine flight’, or let the staff at the wine bar in question advise you.
Selection of wine bars
Wine bar Oocker offers a selection of more than 350 wines to taste. Including exclusive wines from the Loire, Burgundy and Champagne. And of course, there are plenty of delicious dishes on the menu to enjoy alongside your wine (and believe me: it’s highly recommended here).
NOTK Wine Restaurant & Bar also serves an extensive collection of wines by the glass. The wines served here during the World Wine Tour include the world-famous Chateau d’Yquem and the equally renowned Château Mouton Rothschild from Bordeaux. And here too, the kitchen serves plenty of delicious food to provide a good base.
