Eat at your own risk: Skittles launches Halloween candy

While we’re still enjoying the summer and (a few too many) drinks on outdoor terraces, Skittles is already working on the next big event: Halloween. Our favourite rainbow candies are getting their own Halloween version. We’re taking this news very seriously.

In the Netherlands, Halloween (31 October) is still upcoming, but fingers crossed that in a few years we’ll all be parading around in a hot dog costume – it won’t surprise you that we can’t wait. In the US, it’s the favourite holiday of many, and candy brands are capitalising on it en masse. Skittles is joining in too.
Taste the…
In Skittles’ Halloween bag, you’ll find five fruity flavours with a twist. Think ‘Blood Red Berry’ and ‘Mummified Melon’. But there’s a catch. Entirely in keeping with the Halloween spirit, the bag also contains a hidden flavour.
It’s like gross
That flavour is, to put it mildly, rather unusual: ‘rotten zombie’. We’re not exactly sure what to expect from that. In any case, it sounds like a terrifying experience. You think you’re sinking your teeth into a deliciously fruity candy, and suddenly you get… Rotten zombie. A little roulette, anyone?
We’ll probably have to wait a few more years before these candies become available in the Netherlands too. If it ever happens at all. But if you do manage to get your hands on them, trick or treat yo’self.
