Fastest fast food in the world

The American fast-food chain Pal’s Sudden Service serves your food faster than the speed of light. Well, almost—it seems that way.

At Pal’s Sudden Service, an American fast-food chain, your order is taken at a drive-up window in eighteen seconds, and at a second window you receive your snacks in twelve seconds. That is no less than four times faster than the average fast-food chain. How do they manage that? Pal’s employees have to complete 120 hours of training before they are allowed to work independently, and every month they take a test in the form of two or three pop quizzes. Thanks to the intensive training, the staff knows the entire operation inside out, and hardly any mistakes are made with the orders. Something goes wrong only once in every 3,600 orders.
It’s ice cream time again
Now that it is officially spring, the warmer days are just around the corner, and of course that calls for ice cream. At the new ice cream shop IJsmanschap in Amsterdam’s Baarsjes, you can go all out if you love popsicles, because they make them there themselves in all shapes and sizes. There are classic sorbet varieties with strawberry and mango, as well as combinations with white chocolate, champagne and raspberry. The place to be for ice cream fans.
Dry-aged beef in two days
Want to make dry-aged beef yourself in less than 48 hours instead of 45 days? Chef Jonathan Sawyer has developed a lifehack that makes it possible. All you have to do is rub a piece of meat with finely ground koji rice (Meneer Wateetons wrote about it here). Then let the coated meat age for two to three days on a rack in the refrigerator. Before the meat goes into the pan, wash the rice off the meat with water and then pat it dry. Sear the meat in the pan at a high temperature and enjoy your dry-aged beef.
