Engagement ring in an avocado
The internet went into a frenzy over an avocado once again. What have they come up with now? An engagement ring in an avocado instead of in a jewellery box. Not a bad idea in itself, a proposal with food, but we would rather have a piece of cake.

No-waste dinner at De Pronckheer
Next Sunday, Slow Food Utrecht, De Pronckheer and De Proeftafel are organising a no-waste dinner. Here, you’ll eat four courses with special ingredients and matching wines from the Ark of Taste. The chef uses various products from the region: from crayfish, polder eel and venison from its own hunting grounds to a special Jersey cow from the Remeker cheese farm in Lunteren. The complete four-course dinner costs €59.95, but be quick—you must register by 23 February at the latest.
KFC has run out of chicken
Several KFC restaurants in Great Britain and Ireland have suddenly been closed since last week. This is because they have run out of chicken. Rather inconvenient, a chicken restaurant without chicken. Something went wrong with the delivery, meaning the chicken simply isn’t reaching the KFC restaurants. When this will be fixed is not yet clear.

Jamie Oliver is in quite a bit of trouble. His restaurant chain Jamie’s Italian has accumulated major debts. He therefore has to close several restaurants. Seven locations were already closed last year. One of the reasons things aren’t going well is Brexit, which is driving up the price of imported products. Fortunately, the Dutch restaurants will remain open for the time being.
