Chestnut

There are few signs of the approaching autumn that enchant us as much as the chestnut. The blushing, rust-brown, slightly flattened round fruit that, unfortunately, too rarely falls from the trees in our country in autumn. Apparently because we hardly plant sweet chestnut trees.

Fortunately, the Turkish greengrocer fills this gap. The roasting pan with holes and an extra-long handle is widely available. As long as the streets are not yet covered with chestnut vendors, it is an essential accessory for roasting this edible gold at home. Which, by the way, is also delicious candied or puréed.

Available at the (Turkish) supermarket during the autumn season.
