FavorFlav’s Taste Test: Does Uno Penotti Taste Like Kinder Bueno?
Like so many people, I have a great love for all Kinder products. I think the surprise eggs, chemical as they may be, are truly a-ma-zing. And Kinder Bueno is at least as delicious. And I’m sure I’m not the only one, because every time something new about Kinder appears online, it goes completely viral. That’s why I find it quite strange that they haven’t come up with this product yet: we’ve been searching for years for a spread that tastes like the filling of a Kinder Bueno. Could this new Uno Penotti taste like Kinder Bueno?
Every now and then, a product goes viral that people say ‘tastes exactly like it’, but I really think it’s a missed opportunity that Kinder haven’t brought this to market themselves in the Netherlands yet. Maybe one day?
Uno Penotti is supposed to taste just like Kinder Bueno
Word was going around: the new praline flavour of Uno Penotti (available at Albert Heijn, Plus and Jumbo supermarkets) was supposed to taste exactly like Kinder Bueno filling. Time for a taste test, because we were certainly curious — and of course it would be fantastic if it were true. At the same time as the praline flavour, another Uno Penotti flavour was launched: Wit – Blanc (no idea why that’s redundant), and of course we included that one too for a taste. It wasn’t supposed to taste like Kinder Bueno, but it does look delicious, so we were curious about that one as well.
Our first impression of the praline flavour of Uno Penotti: in terms of smell, it has very little in common with Kinder Bueno, but mostly smells like… praline. Very surprising, given the name, but the taste immediately tells us too: this has nothing to do with Kinder Bueno. The search must continue. It’s tasty, but not innovative; it basically tastes like any other kind of hazelnut praline spread. Delicious, but not what we were looking for.
The white Uno Penotti
Then there’s the Wit – Blanc Uno Penotti. It’s a white, creamy spread with roasted almonds. Unanimous verdict: this is incredibly delicious, a clear winner. Not what we were looking for, but very good nonetheless. We didn’t regret for a second bringing along the second flavour as well. White Uno Penotti is pure genotti!
