FC Kip by Jandino Asporaat opens its doors in Rotterdam
Well, of course we all expected this to happen… I’m actually surprised it took so long. But anyway, better late than never; after being a household name in Jandino Asporaat’s shows for ten years, FC Kip is finally actually opening its doors. Whether Judeska and Sydney will be behind the counter remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: you can get chicken there.
But there’s little chance of that Judeska; at the real FC Kip, you’ll simply be helped in a friendly manner. Quite pleasant, too. ‘Only if you don’t pay, or if you try to rob the cashier, can you expect a frying pan,’ says Jandino Asporaat. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
FC Kip: more than just chicken
But FC Kip is, even though the name might suggest otherwise, so much more than just chicken. Because they also have burgers, and — something I would very much like to try — an Antillean pink tuna salad, based on a recipe from Jandino’s mother. Good to know: all the meat is halal and the buns are made from potato starch.
As we speak the renovations are being completed so that the first guests can visit FC Kip, but it already looks like a success. In fact, FC Kip may soon go international. At any rate, there is interest, according to Jandino: ‘Requests are coming in from Suriname, Curaçao, Aruba, Belgium and various cities in the Netherlands. Even though no one has tasted or seen anything yet. I wouldn’t rule out rolling out FC Kip.’
