Forget the Nativity Scene: This Schnapps Market Is the One You’ll Want to Put Under Your Tree

It’s November, which means Mariah Carey has dusted herself off and we can start getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year. It’s not quite like that for me, though, because I’m often in the depths of my winter slump around then — I always get hit pretty hard. But that’s why I’ve been tackling it extra well in recent years: planning and decorating as many fun things as possible to cheer myself up a little.

And this year, that includes a Christmas tree for the first time. Yep, I’m 33 and I’ve never had a Christmas tree of my own. Serious, I know, but this year I’m going to do things differently. I always thought they looked so cozy at home when I was younger, and when I visited other people. Especially when they had really gone all out, with all the trimmings, far too many expensive baubles (more than half of which always ended up broken) and a Nativity scene. Personally, I’m not really into those, although they do look cozy.
A schnapps market, now that’s something I can really get behind
But why settle for a Christmas market when you can simply set up an entire Christmas village at home?! Exactly. And its centerpiece will be this Schnapps Market. It’s lit up, it’s nice and big, and it’s exactly what my tree needs.
And of course, there’ll be some actual schnapps too this year. Oh wow, do I seriously almost feel like celebrating now? Things are getting out of hand.
