Golden tip: Café Goldmund in Amsterdam’s Baarsjes

postjeswegbewerkt

Oh, how happy I get from a lovely new place to eat and drink in the neighborhood. This time: Café Goldmund at Postjesweg 7. The food is delicious, the wines are good, and the location and decor are special. Stop by and see for yourself!

People-watching

I love people-watching. Especially with wine and delicious food. At Goldmund, I can also watch people during the cold winter days. That’s because you eat here in a large glass greenhouse. Lovely and warm in winter (they even have underfloor heating), and in summer they can also use the small park in front of the café for a large terrace, so you can keep a close eye on the people speeding along Postjesweg. Wonderful.

Café plus

They call themselves a café, but ‘Restaurant Goldmund’ would have worked just as well, in my opinion. I had one of the most delicious evenings I’ve had in ages here. Dishes that wouldn’t be out of place in very good restaurants, paired with good wines, but with the coziness and accessibility of a café. It’s no surprise they know how to maintain that atmosphere: Café Goldmund is owned by the owners of Café Cook, one of the coziest neighborhood cafés in Amsterdam West for years.

Wild halibut, beurre rouge

The table’s favorite? The main course of wild halibut, beurre rouge, parsley root and savoy cabbage (€21.50). But you can also order the venison with red cabbage (€23.50) or the starter of scallop with razor clams, saffron, hazelnut and cauliflower (€10.50) without hesitation.

Goldmund opens at 08:30 in the morning, so you can also go there for breakfast and lunch. After dinner, the taps stay open: this delicious neighborhood café is open until 02:00 at night on weekends.
