Good corona project: build a stairway to wine heaven
Is your little wine cellar completely organized at home? Or at least a neat rack that fits everything? Or are you simply, you know, plonking down a few bottles here and there on every empty surface in your kitchen? This Australian carpenter (or rather, master CARPENTER) came up with a fantastic storage system – not for shoes or bags or other junk, but for liters and liters of wine…
It may be ridiculously early in the morning, but it is indeed French Gastronomy Day! And when we think of France, we see endless caves full of wine, and hope so fervently that we will soon be able to visit our beloved holiday destination again and return with car trunks full of Burgundy wines. And then we want this! There are two staircases in the house, and even the one leading to the floor where the children sleep may, as far as I’m concerned, be completely filled up this way.
I see dead space
Murray Berril, whom we all now want as our handyman, told Australia’s Daily Mail that he hates ‘dead space’ when renovating houses for sale, because in effect you pay for nothing. So now all I can see are corners and gaps in the house where NOTHING is happening while wine could have been stored there! Such a terrible waste…
Berrill the Builder
Berrill and his employees created detailed construction drawings and carried out tests for this first wine staircase to make sure the whole thing would hold. It can fit no fewer than 156 bottles, has a built-in thermometer, and they are working on adding a cooling element.
They posted photos of it on social media and people went wild. The only objection? ‘Not enough steps,’ someone joked. Meanwhile, all we can do is dream about all the delicious bottles we would finally have room for. Pinot Grigio, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Noir – mama is just going upstairs for a moment…
