Gross: woman finds ‘lump of meat’ in a pack of dubbelvla and is sick for days

lidl dubbelvla

Just a warning: read at your own risk, and you’d better make sure you’ve eaten already. Because this is so disgusting, and I think everyone’s worst nightmare. Imagine if this happened to you… Gerda from Uden will never have dubbelvla again, because she found a large ‘lump of meat’ in it and was sick for days afterward.

And that’s despite having it every evening after dinner, a whole bowlful. She did the same that evening, but then found a gigantic lump in it: I suspect there was simply a piece of meat in it. Because it was so large, and I really had to remove it with a pair of tongs.”

“I was very sick for four days”

She sent the pack back to Lidl, where she had bought it — but they say it never arrived. Honestly: a bit of an anticlimax, because what on earth was in it?! It also doesn’t seem like the best outcome for Gerda, because surely you want to know what made you so sick.

“I was very sick for four days. I could barely stand on my legs, which meant I couldn’t work.” That was also unfortunate, because Gerda works as a freelance newspaper delivery driver.

Fortunately, Gerda’s husband didn’t eat it

And now she is (rightly) extremely angry. Also because she will never know what made her so sick: “I will never eat vla again, even though it’s such a delicious dessert. And I will never shop at Lidl again either. They’re leaving us out in the cold.” Seems more than reasonable to me.

But thank goodness Gerda’s husband didn’t eat it. “I have a terminally ill husband at home, and I’m glad he didn’t eat it. Who knows what it would have done to him.” Phew. That would really scare you half to death. It didn’t even happen to me, and I already never want dubbelvla again because of this story.

Lidl responds

Hart Van Nederland made a report about Gerda’s experience and asked Lidl for a response:

“Customer satisfaction is our number-one priority. We do everything we can to help our customers as well as possible. Because the investigation is still ongoing, unfortunately we cannot comment on the matter in detail at this time.” If it ever comes to light what this lump of meat was, you’ll of course read about it here too. I actually really want to know now.
