Handy trick to remove garlic smell (but be careful!)

Let’s say it right away: you need to be very careful with this! But we also can’t deny that this really is a super-smart trick for getting the smell of garlic off your hands—one of those tricks that makes you wonder why you didn’t think of it yourself…

Well, maybe you didn’t think of it yourself because it is a little risky after all. And we recommend only trying this trick if you have plenty of confidence in the kitchen and also trust yourself when handling your chef’s knife. But because Martha Stewart once again manages to impress us with her kitchen skills and hacks, we don’t want to keep this trick from you:
Have your chef’s knife ready
Because what do you have in your hand anyway when you’ve just chopped a few cloves of garlic? Exactly, a knife. And if you’re the kind of person who also likes to tackle smaller tasks such as chopping garlic with a decent-sized chef’s knife, then Martha’s tip is right up your alley. So we wouldn’t attempt this with a dinky paring knife.
Odor remover
You may actually be familiar with those stainless-steel ‘soaps’ for the kitchen, which you can also use under the tap to wash food smells off your hands. The idea is that the molecules of, for example, onion or garlic left on your fingers and giving off an odor bond with the steel molecules. The principle is actually the same here: you can also use the stainless-steel blade of a knife to remove smells from your fingers. BUT TAKE NOTE: ONLY WITH THE BLUNT SIDE, OF COURSE! You really can’t put enough exclamation marks after that. Anyway, it’s another damn handy tip from La Stewart, so here it is:
