Help the Sisters of Sint Catharinadal—Drink Wine!
The Norbertine sisters of the Sint Catharinadal convent have unexpectedly found themselves with a large quantity of wine—no fewer than 20,000 bottles. And another such quantity will be added in the autumn. Help the nuns and order their wine!
The sisters have lived in the castle De Blauwe Camer since 1647. Among other things, they occupy themselves with book restoration, calligraphy and, of course, their daily gatherings, as well as growing grapes and making wine. This year, the sisters’ wine was purchased by KLM, but due to the coronavirus measures, the airline needed much less wine than expected. So what should happen to those 20,000 bottles?

The Breda Maakt Blij volunteer initiative knows exactly what to do. The founders, Thibaud and Frank, had already managed to find buyers for 17,000 gladioli that were left over because the Four Days Marches had been cancelled. The guys know a great deal about marketing and social media, while the sisters know considerably less, so they set up a Facebook page so people could order the wine. Successfully too: only eight thousand bottles remain. The order can even be delivered to people who do not live in Brabant.
Restore the convent
That means drinking wine for a good cause, because the proceeds from the wine will be used to maintain and restore the old convent. Would you like to taste the wine on location? Then there is only one option: book a culinary weekend in Brabant and take a seat at the table at De Blauwe Camer.
