Here you’ll find the best falafel in the world

Lenny Kravitz is a regular, the New York Times called it the best in the world, and Owen Wilson, Chris Hemsworth and our own (at least equally famous) Snackspert Eke Bosman recently took a bite of a sandwich there too: the Parisian falafel mecca L’as du Fallafel.

It may be located in the trendy Jewish neighbourhood of Le Marais, but this is not the place to go for a hipper-than-hip or cosy Parisian restaurant. For falafel, all the more reason to come here. Fresh bread, crispy falafel, creamy tahini, wonderfully thick pieces of fried aubergine and just enough spicy harissa. To quote the New York Times: ‘This is all piled into a pita in such quantities that eating it is an adventure in napkin management.’
And all for just 6.50 euros. It helps restore the balance a little after shelling out for your ridiculously expensive beer, doesn’t it?
Be prepared
Do be prepared: it can get quite busy here. But hey, waiting a little while watching the fashionable, strolling Parisians is no punishment either. You order your falafel and pay the cashier on the right straight away, then hand your order slip to the men on the left, who prepare it for you.
Not a fan of falafel? Shame on you! But okay, you can also get shawarma. Delicious too.
