Calaboose

Cocktails and satay: from now on, you’ll find this fine combo at Calaboose in Rotterdam. Satay god Daan Kisman and Arno van Eijmeren are a match made in heaven. And they prove it with an endless cocktail menu (yes!) and delicious satay.

Calaboose is located in Rotterdam-Kralingen, in a former police guardhouse. The men behind this signature bar are no strangers to the world of satay and cocktails. You may know Daan Kisman from De Satéman, while Arno van Eijmeren proves with the exciting concept at bar Dr. that he is a true cocktail guru.

Cocktails for days

The men are now joining forces. Choosing won’t be easy. Calaboose’s menu consists of a very long list of drinks. Fifty (!) different cocktails, to be precise. That already earns you extra points with us.

The Tiki Passion with passion fruit and ginger beer is one of the signature cocktails. Do you like ginger? Then this is your pick. The Cendol, inspired by an Indonesian dessert, is also highly recommended. We have three words for you: sweet, sweeter, sweetest. You certainly won’t go thirsty here.

Family recipe

At Calaboose, you eat satay the way satay should be. Made with the best meat, marinated according to a (secret) family recipe and grilled on a charcoal grill. And since you obviously can’t keep drinking on an empty stomach, you have the perfect excuse to order some extra bites alongside your satay. Such as the crunchy prawn crackers with three different types of sambal.

Calaboose is open from Wednesday through Sunday.
