Huh, what?! So this is the REAL flavor of the green HARIBO gummy bear

They’re iconic: HARIBO gummy bears. For more than 100 years, the candy has had a loyal following. But those fans have been thrown into total confusion—and it’s all because of the flavor of the green HARIBO gummy bear. It turns out to be VERY different from what people thought.

The internet is going wild. The flavor of the green bear is printed on the back of the package, so the answer was there all along. But anyone who ignores the information on the back will be completely surprised. And will seriously start doubting the workings of their taste buds.
HARIBO gummy bear mindfuck
What does the green HARIBO gummy bear taste like? Strawberries. Not green, unripe strawberries (I assume), although that might at least explain the color. No, red, ripe, sweet strawberries. Quite a mindfuck, right? And for anyone wondering what flavor the red bear has: raspberry. That, at least, makes sense, we think.

Isn’t green supposed to mean apple?
Many HARIBO fans are confused because they expected the green bear to taste like apple. Not an unreasonable thought. A few years ago, Germany responded to that expectation. There, the green bear was given an apple flavor, and a bright red strawberry-flavored bear was added to the mix.
More controversy
HARIBO candies have caused controversy and commotion before. For example, HARIBO’s sugar-free candies prompted hilarious reactions, and panic broke out when HARIBO decided to stop making their licorice sticks. The latter can still be found here and there, fortunately. Well, despite all the commotion, we remain loyal members of the HARIBO fan club.
