What a disaster! Haribo, what are you doing now?!

Oh no! Candy producer Haribo is stopping production of one of THE classic licorice candies. Hurry to the store now and get Trekdrop one last time!

Craving Trekdrop
Not everyone is. Because guess what? Production of Trekdrop has been halted since March! The licorice candy is only popular in the Netherlands. In other countries, the typically Dutch delicacy doesn’t sell at all, and now that the machines are outdated and investment is needed, Haribo has decided they don’t want to do that; the costs simply don’t outweigh the benefits. Other producers aren’t interested in taking over the candy either, so farewell, Trekdrop…
Pierre to the rescue
At the FavorFlav editorial office: copious tears. But we are undoubtedly not as sad as licorice fanatic Pierre Wind. When he’s not busy on the phone, he’s cooking with licorice in his kitchen. Guests are served licorice bread upon arrival, for example, and he specifically uses Trekdrop to make licorice ice cream. “It melts completely, which makes it perfect for that.”
Perhaps the solution is near. Although Haribo does not want to give Pierre the recipe, he is willing to recreate his favorite licorice candy using the ingredients list on the packaging. Good luck, Pierre! Bring us back the Trekdrop!
