In these restaurants, everyone smells of garlic

Your dish is often not complete without a clove of garlic. One downside: the dreaded garlic breath. In these restaurants, you don’t have to worry about anyone thinking you smell, because they use garlic in every dish: from start to finish.

There are currently two restaurants in the Netherlands dedicated to garlic. First, there’s the Netherlands’ first garlic restaurant, Garlic Queen in Amsterdam, where ‘The garlic queen is in the kitchen’. From garlic sauce with your starter to garlic ice cream, the flavour enhancer is incorporated into every dish on the menu. For example, choose their speciality, the ‘garlic baker’: a whole, fresh garlic bulb from the oven, served with bread. Or their classic beef stew with many cloves of garlic.
Almost everything
Okay, not everything contains garlic; you can still get a regular beer or cup of coffee at the restaurant. But instead of such a normal drink, you could also choose something completely in keeping with the theme: vodka with a hint of garlic, garlic-lime liqueur or their special garlic beer.
Rotterdam also has its own garlic restaurant: Look. Their classics include Provençal free-range chicken with fifteen cloves of garlic and, for dessert, pure chocolate cake with garlic ice cream.
The United States of America
The idea for the restaurant comes from America, the owner of Garlic Queen tells Vice, In California, the restaurant The Stinking Rose is entirely dedicated to garlic. They serve approximately 1,361 kilos of garlic every month. Their motto? ‘We season our garlic with food!’
