INSLAAN: Lidl sells real champagne and it costs next to nothing
Because of the price of a bottle of champagne, most people only drink the festive bubbles when there’s something to celebrate, such as New Year’s Eve. What a shame! Because those greasy oliebollen do absolutely nothing for your champagne – and hello: that’s still quite a while away. What if you didn’t have to wait for a special occasion to open a bottle of bubbles because you didn’t have to worry about the price? Lidl has the answer, because their champagne is an absolute bargain!
Real champagne for next to nothing
The Brut Reserve Comte de Brismand champagne costs just €14.99 and has been a top seller in Lidl’s range for years. During blind champagne tastings with my wine club, it always comes out as one of the winners, which is quite something among more than a hundred bottles, some of which cost ten times as much! And it doesn’t only stand out on our tasting table. Comte de Brismand frequently wins national and international awards. And all that for less than fifteen euros. Stock up!
Another winner
Around 349 million bottles of champagne are produced every year – and there’s some pretty strict oversight. Champagne can only be called champagne if the bubbles come from the region of the same name. The method used to make champagne (Méthode Traditionelle or Méthode Champenoise) is used worldwide, however. In France, this divine drink is called crémant when it comes from outside Champagne. And Lidl just so happens to have a fantastic bottle at a low price in its range especially for Easter.
Crémant de Loire Rosé Brut costs 6.99 and ooh la la, this is a real treat. Beautifully pale pink in color, with those cheerful strawberry and blueberry aromas. Drink it as an aperitif or, wonderfully old-school: with a shrimp cocktail. Or simply from your loved one’s navel – no judgements here!
