International Sushi Festival in Rotterdam

sushi

Japanese cuisine is now everywhere in the Netherlands: every city has a good place to eat ramen, and more and more people know what okonomiyaki is, but it all started with sushi. Is your love for sushi still just as strong? Then be sure to visit the huge International Sushi Festival in Rotterdam.

The festival is part of the Japan Fair Festival and was such a huge success last year that the whole of Ahoy was packed with enthusiastic sushi lovers. It is not yet known where the event will take place this year, but mark 7 September in big letters in your calendar.

Workshops and lots of food

Of course, you cannot avoid eating large quantities of sushi, but there is more. Take part in a workshop and learn to roll your own sushi, or visit the sake and Japanese whisky tasting. There are pop-up bars everywhere, Japanese beer flows freely and there is a street market where you can buy fun souvenirs to take home.

More than sushi

Sushi is of course inextricably linked to fish, but feel free to bring your vegan friends along too. There is vegan sushi, after all. And if you have had enough of rice for a while, you can also indulge in other Japanese delicacies. There is more than enough ramen, karaage (fried chicken), okonomiyaki, takoyaki, mochi, gyoza and everything else your heart could desire. So you are guaranteed to leave the venue with a satisfyingly full stomach.

Music

If you can still move after all that food, there is live music or you can dance to the tunes spun by a DJ. And of course, no Japanese party is complete without a good karaoke session. Tickets will go on sale soon, so keep an eye on the event’s Facebook page.
