Internet hit: make this peanut butter bread (easy!)

Was everyone obsessed with banana bread at the start of quarantine, and then with coffee mousse? The latest corona kitchen hit was peanut butter bread. You read that right: it’s super-easy bread with the peanut butter already in it. Let’s get started!

The recipe comes from an American cookbook from the 1930s, the time of the Great Depression. Back then, there was a shortage of just about everything, including eggs and butter. But the peanut butter in this recipe replaces both of those ingredients. Peanut butter, milk and flour are the main ingredients. You can’t go wrong with that, right?
How to make peanut butter bread
- Preheat the oven to 170 degrees
- Grease a cake tin or loaf tin with a little butter.
- Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together.
- Have you got stiff peanut butter? Stir it loose with a little milk. Then stir the peanut butter and milk into the dry ingredients.
- Spoon into the baking tin.
- Feeling culinary? Sprinkle your bread with sesame seeds or coarsely chopped peanuts.
- Bake for about 1 hour until golden brown and cooked through.
Tip from the experienced peanut butter bread bakers on the internet: a slice of peanut butter bread made into French toast also works really well!
