Jack Daniel’s launches two new and special Bottled-In-Bond whiskeys

We all have them: favorite flavors, ingredients, and kitchen tools. Those FavorFlavs we always reach for (again). Jack Daniel’s, the best-known American whiskey, is one of them. So we were eager to taste the new Jack Daniel’s Bottled-In-Bond whiskeys. Here’s what you can expect.

Neat, on the rocks, in a long drink, a splash in whiskey sauce, or in a slush cocktail: bring on this bronze-brown scotch from North America’s Tennessee, because you can do it all with Jack Daniel’s whiskey. And hey, what about Jack Daniel’s spareribs?

Jack Daniel’s Old No.7

No wonder, then, that everyone knows Jack Daniel’s—the whiskey brand has been around since 1866. Jack Daniel himself was the brand’s first master distiller until his death in 1906. His Jack Daniel’s Old No.7, recognizable by its black label, is still a very important whiskey in the Jack Daniel’s range, which also includes Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple, and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye.

Last year, the two newborns of the Jack Daniel’s family were launched in the United States, and they are now also available in the Netherlands. Two new Bottled-In-Bond whiskeys, that is: Jack Daniel’s Bonded and Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash are the first two varieties in the new so-called Bonded series, a premium line that honors the unique whiskey production of the Jack Daniel’s distillery. The packaging of both bottles is inspired by the original design of the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee bottle from 1895.

Bottled-in-Bond

Did you immediately wonder what Bottled-In-Bond means? Well: the Bottled-In-Bond Act dates back to 1897 and stipulates that a bottled-in-bond whiskey must be distilled by one distiller, during one season, and then aged for at least four years in a government-bonded warehouse. Once these requirements have been met, the whiskey is bottled with the ‘100 proof’ classification. Jack Daniel’s meets all these requirements: both Jack Daniel’s Bonded and Triple Mash are ‘100 proof’ Bottled-in-Bond whiskeys with an alcohol content of 50%.

Jack Daniel’s Bonded Tennessee Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s Bonded Whiskey is made according to Jack Daniel’s classic recipe: 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. All barrels are carefully hand-selected so that their distinctive characteristics, such as the deep color, flavor, and aromas, can shine through. This gives Jack Daniel’s Bonded a darker, richer, and more ‘oak-forward’ character compared with Old No.7. This Tennessee Whiskey is a bold ‘100 proof’ with layered notes of caramel, oak, and spices. My favorite among the Jack Daniel’s whiskeys.

Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash Blended Straight Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash is a blend of three Bottled-in-Bond whiskeys: 60% Tennessee Rye, 20% Tennessee Whiskey, and 20% American Malt. All three whiskeys are distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee, during the same distilling season, then blended and bottled at ‘100 proof’. Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash is a spicy number—smoky, but with a lovely finish.
