Jonnie & Thérèse Boer open yet another affordable restaurant

Jonnie and Thérèse Boer have been successfully working for some time to make their Michelin-starred fame (De Librije has held three stars for eighteen years now) accessible to people who can’t or don’t want to pay a few hundred bucks for a menu. They’re doing a great job, opening somewhat more affordable restaurants that still bear their mark of quality. And recently, the newest branch of this more affordable family opened.

You’re not likely to get there on foot or by budget-friendly bicycle, though, so the travel and accommodation costs will probably cancel out any potential financial advantage… You’ll have to travel to: Bonaire!

Coffee with the Boertjes

After opening three locations of the couple’s brasserie concept (Brass Boer) and two of the Oriental-inspired Senang, there is now Boertiek, where you can pick up or enjoy various products, juices, smoothies and sandwiches on site. This coffee and sandwich shop is therefore also a ‘boutique’ where you can buy things like spices, nuts and wine to take with you in your suitcase, or enjoy in a beach chair or your hotel room.

Delfin, that’s fine

Hotel room? Absolutely—Boertiek is located at Delfins Beach Resort on the Caribbean island. One of the previously mentioned Brass Boer locations is also located here, as is one of the Oriental Senang restaurants, serving all kinds of different dishes centred around rice.

So, if you’re ever in Bonaire and lucky enough to be staying at this resort, you can start your day with Boer—and actually get your Boer fix all day and evening. Pasa bon!
