Jumbo launches a new dairy line: Direct from the Farm (and there’s good news for vegans)
Good news for everyone who loves dairy: Jumbo is launching a new dairy line with six artisanal farm products. And the farmer himself adorns the packaging.
Starting this week, farmer Kees, farmer Ernst and farmer Jacoline will adorn the packaging of six new dairy products from Jumbo. They are the first suppliers of Jumbo’s new Direct from the Farm dairy line. For now, the range consists of whole milk and semi-skimmed Jersey milk (from farmer Kees), buttermilk and butter (from farmer Ernst), and organic full-fat quark and full-fat yoghurt (from farmer Jacoline).
Jersey milk from Twente
And behind every product is a compelling (marketing) story: farmer Kees’s Jersey cows from Agelo in Twente graze on herb-rich grassland. Jersey cows are known for their creamy, protein-rich milk. The cows that produce milk with an extra-high protein content are specially selected for the semi-skimmed Jersey milk. As a result, this milk contains an average of 30% more protein than a regular milk variety. “The pure quality is achieved by processing the milk directly and without additives in the small-scale factory on our own farm,” says farmer Kees. “I consciously want to preserve the natural landscape here in Twente, with grassland full of herbs, shrubs and flower borders.”
Extra-long-matured quark and yoghurt
Farmer Ernst from Well in Gelderland is also proud of his product, which is still churned in the traditional way. As a result, the buttermilk tastes creamy, wonderfully full-bodied and slightly tart. And his butter— you guessed it: another product with a pure flavour. Farmer Jacoline from the Weerribben supplies extra-long-matured organic full-fat quark and yoghurt.
Also for vegans
At the same time, Jumbo is also introducing a completely plant-based line of fresh products in the dairy aisle. This new range contains ten different products, from breakfast to dessert.
