Lidl sells the Austrian winter sports hit Kaiserschmarrn
Austrian Kaiserschmarrn (or Kaiserschmarren) — you know, that really thick, torn-apart pancake — is our favorite winter sports dish. And for everyone staying at home: Lidl is now selling Kaiserschmarrn with and without raisins. YUM!
With Lidl in the Alps
It’s ‘Alpenfest’ at Lidl again, which means more than 40 Alpine products on the shelves, from raclette, rösti and schnitzels to… Kaiserschmarrn! Kaiserschmarren is so popular in Austria that it can be found on almost every menu in the country, but most people still primarily associate it with Alpine cuisine.
World’s largest Kaiserschmarrn
The world’s largest Kaiserschmarrn was once baked in the Alps. The people of Tyrol’s Stubai Valley needed 1,070 eggs and a pan with a diameter of four metres. The finished Kaiserschmarrn weighed no less than 155 kilos! Lidl’s bag is a little lighter, at 300 grams, and costs less than two euros. From Wednesday 19 February, you can buy this delicacy at Lidl stores. Available in plain and raisin varieties. Just heat it up, pour a little rum over it and genieße geblasen.
