Man is addicted: eats nothing but Mac & Cheese

As you may have read before, I’m an extremely big fan of McDonald’s. And especially the Big Mac: delicious. I’m absolutely not ashamed of it either, and every time I eat at Maccie’s, it’s a real celebration. But even I, as a big fan, couldn’t wolf down a Big Mac every day. Yep, even a Big Mac would eventually be overkill for me. But that isn’t the case for Austin Davis; this man from Florida only likes one thing and doesn’t eat anything else anymore.

All day every day: Mac and Cheese. My goodness, I’d go completely crazy from that. And he’s been doing this (seriously) for seventeen years already. SEVENTEEN!
Selective Eating Disorder
That’s the condition Davis has, also known as Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). ‘I don’t want to say I’m addicted to Mac and Cheese because that sounds really too strange, but my body doesn’t allow me to eat anything else,’ Davis says. He does eat different varieties of Mac and Cheese, although nine times out of ten it’s still from the Velveeta brand.
People with Selective Eating Disorder aren’t simply picky eaters; they can even develop a phobia of certain types of food. It may be caused by the smell, but also by the texture or a dish in general. Remarkably, the cause isn’t related to the food itself, but almost always stems from trauma.
