Martha’s tip: make scrambled eggs with a coffee machine

Making perfect scrambled eggs is nowhere near as simple as it seems. But if we’re to believe Martha Stewart (and we’re happy to do so), the solution lies with your coffee machine.

Say what? That’s right: Martha simply beats her eggs with the cappuccino frother of her espresso machine. And although the internet is rather divided about the method, it’s not such a strange idea in itself. For a perfect cappuccino, you need beautifully airy, whipped milk. For perfect scrambled eggs, beautifully airy, whipped eggs. One plus one equals two.
Perfect fluffy scrambled eggs
In this video, Martha shows how it’s done: lightly beat the eggs in a jug, add some pepper, salt and butter and voilà: put them in the frother. “These eggs are buttery and fluffy and light and delicious,” says Martha.
A life hack she learned in prison? Nope. TV chef Jody Williams is the one who taught Martha this trick on her own show in 2011, as this video proves.
Comments
Although household goddess Martha’s tips are gratefully received, this goes a bit too far for most people. That’s clear from the comments on the video: ‘Next up: How to cook a brisket in your dishwasher’, ‘How to get caviar stains out of your Persian rug using a $10,000 rolex. Oh the rich, they’re just like us…’, ‘Next we’ll learn how to make coleslaw with a cabbage and a ceiling fan.’ The – entirely justified – question ‘what is harder to clean: a pan or a milk frother?’ is also asked frequently. What do you think? Scrambled eggs à la cappuccino machine: worth trying?
