Not only small restaurants, but also major chains like McDonald’s have had to temporarily close their doors in the fight against coronavirus. But McDonald’s isn’t the meanest, and is sharing the recipe for their Sausage & Egg McMuffin, so you can have your McMoment at home.

Okay, you can still just order your Maccie meal and have it delivered (wasn’t that all we did anyway?), but anyone who wants to kill some time and transform their kitchen into a fast-food paradise can have a great time with this recipe.

How to make the Sausage & Egg McMuffin:

  • Toast the muffin until it’s golden brown
  • Season the meat with some salt and pepper and roll it into balls. Flatten it into a burger shape and cook it on a preheated grill for about 6 to 7 minutes per side (or follow the cooking time on the meat’s packaging).
  • Grease the inside of a metal ring with a little oil and place it in a small frying pan. Add a small amount of water, just enough to cover the bottom, and bring it to a boil. Crack the eggs into the rings, cover the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Stack your McMuffin as follows: the bottom half of the muffin, then a slice of cheese, followed by the burger and then the egg.
  • Want to go all out? Make a hash brown to go with it: grate the potato into a bowl, mix it with an egg and season with salt and pepper. Heat a generous splash of oil in a pan and add a spoonful of the potato mixture. Flatten it and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  • Place your hash brown on the egg and top it with the other half of the muffin, et voilà: your very own Sausage & Egg McMuffin.
