Seven restaurants received a first star

  • De Heeren van Harinxma – Beetsterzwaag
  • Zarzo – Eindhoven
  • De Swarte Ruijter – Holten – Holterberg
  • Het Roode Koper – Leuvenum
  • Joelia – Rotterdam
  • Aan de Zweth – Schipluiden
  • Strandlodge – Winterswijk

One restaurant received a second star

  • De Groene Lantaarn – Zuidwolde

No third star was awarded in the 2016 guide. Restaurant de Leest in Vaasen and De Librije in Zwolle retain their three Michelin stars.

No losers

Not a single restaurant lost its star. The Netherlands now has 107 restaurants with one or more stars. “This points to the positive evolution that Dutch gastronomy has been undergoing for some time now. The chefs are looking ahead and are building on the development of Dutch culinary culture with craftsmanship,” says Michael Ellis, International Director of the Michelin Guide.

De Kromme Dissel

Tonny Berentsen of De Kromme Dissel in Heelsum received an award from Micheal Ellis because the restaurant has managed to retain its star for the 45th time. FavorFlav’s Marjan Ippel spoke with the chef about his cuisine and Michelin. You can read the interview here.
