The benefits of Mixblik
1. Local vegetables
Mixblik works with local suppliers, which means they not only reduce transport costs, but also support local farmers. This way, you get healthy and fresh food from nearby.
2. Organic
At Mixblik, they choose organic products wherever possible. This contributes to biodiversity and results in healthier soil and better harvests. A win-win for everyone.
3. Seasonal products
Whatever is in season is used. Seasonal food has less impact on the environment and always tastes better.
4. Sustainably packaged
Cans are lightweight, easy to transport and 100% recyclable. They also have a long shelf life without added artificial substances or E-numbers.
Top 3 Mixblik favourites
I’ve tried them all and always keep some flavours at home. What I find so fun and delicious about these dishes is that they are flavours I can’t easily recreate at home. You can also vary endlessly with the cans by adding extra ingredients. My top 3:
- Silsi (Eritrean tomato sauce): This magical mix of hot peppers, twenty different spices and fresh onions creates a rich umami flavour that is perfect with rice, pasta or as a dip with drinks. Spicy! Tip: serve with sourdough bread.
- Lentil stew (East African comfort food): Made with tomatoes, berbere (the East African spice blend), ginger and lentils. This stew is not only nutritious, but also an ideal vegan dish. I often add chickpeas and eat it with avocado and toasted sesame seeds. Yum!
- Mafé (Senegalese peanut stew): A delicious, mildly spicy peanut stew made with local Dutch vegetables such as potatoes and carrots. Packed with flavour and suitable for vegans.
