Mondi Zuid named Amsterdam’s best terrace

Escaping the city’s hustle and bustle on a beautiful terrace in the city: as far as I’m concerned, these are the best places. Mondi Zuid, with its courtyard garden at boutique hotel The College Hotel, is one of them. Here, you can enjoy Caribbean delicacies in a green oasis, surrounded by Amsterdam’s oldest olive trees and tallest cypresses. Talkies has therefore named Mondi Zuid Amsterdam’s best terrace.

I’m a sucker for courtyard gardens anyway. I previously shared a list of our favourite courtyard gardens in Amsterdam, and of course Mondi Zuid is on it too. This is truly a place where you can sit back and relax. Just around the corner from the Albert Cuyp Market and Museumplein, it’s the ideal base after shopping.

Caribbean shared fine dining
Anyone who thinks that Caribbean cuisine—which is much more than just one cuisine—cannot be refined is mistaken, as Rotterdam-born Justin Niessen, chef at Mondi, proves. At Mondi, he serves Caribbean shared fine dining combined with his favourite soul food—and it’s delicious! From an array of raw fish bites and outrageously tasty tacos to risottos and pasta—everything with a Caribbean twist.

Justin also shares his recipes in his cookbook The New Caribbean Cuisine. With beautiful photography and great restaurant tips, it’s a must-have for Caribbean lovers anyway.
Caribbean Nights
And anyone who has ever been to the Caribbean knows that partying is an important part of a night out. Caribbean Nights take place every month, so be sure to keep an eye on the Mondi Zuid events calendar.
