Need a drink? Uber is going to deliver it!
Almost every week, we order a meal from one of our favorite restaurants, because yes: we still can’t eat out, but of course we do want to continue supporting the hospitality industry through thick and thin. It’s always such a bommer when the wine has just run out and the beer is warm. That (luxury) problem will soon be solved, because besides meals, Uber will also soon deliver alcoholic drinks—handy!
Alcohol delivered to your door
Uber already delivers groceries and even medicines to your home. Now Uber has announced that it will also add beer, wine and spirits. To do so, it has acquired the existing delivery platform Drizly—for no less than 1.1 billion dollars (around 915 million euros). This will undoubtedly make Uber Eats even more successful; since the second quarter of last year, Uber Eats has already contributed more to revenue than traditional taxi rides.
Never run out again
Now you may be thinking: but you could already order alcohol through Uber, right? That’s true—you can also order a beer, bottle of wine or cocktail at restaurants, but with Drizly you order drinks from existing local liquor stores. That way, you can still make that ultimate Baileys Salted Caramel Espresso Martini, even though you just discovered that you’re out of Baileys.
