New & hot: the new ‘recreation bar’ Chez Miné

Chez Mine 4

This coming Saturday, Chez Miné opens in Amsterdam Bos & Lommer; a place where it’s not about seeing and being seen, but about entertaining and being entertained. There’s even a new word for it; the recreation bar!

Chez Miné is the place where you may én can do anything you’d like in your free time. From playing pétanque early in the morning or a game of ‘round the table’ with your friends over drinks, to dancing late into the night on the vintage 1980s disco floor. Chez Miné feels a bit like your old French campsite, but with a touch of a Parisian nightclub.

Pétanque tournament

Next to the green park and the spacious terrace, part of which is covered in sand, there’s a full 500 square metres of indoor space where you can entertain yourself. And there, you’re never quite sure whether you’re in your local village’s corny bar-dance venue or a Parisian nightclub. Including a pétanque court – every month there’s a pétanque and kubb tournament. On the other days, the calendar fills up with salsa nights, cycling ride-outs, night theatre and, when the weather allows, a disco night every Friday on an original 1980s disco floor.

Pizza!

Alongside all the activities that change daily, there’s one constant: the menu revolves around your all-time holiday favourite: (36-hour-risen) pizza! But now in a contemporary style that will make you happy, and paired with the various modern vegetable dishes on the menu; grilled broccoli with romesco sauce, burrata salad with tomato and plum, or fresh potato, courgette and dill salad with vegan cheese.

Ice cream from the freezer

A campsite wine certainly has its charm, but at Chez Miné you drink genuinely good wine; whether you’re a natural wine lover or prefer a traditional style. And, just like at the campsite, there’s also a freezer stocked with ice creams, which you can take out yourself, because that’s how it’s supposed to be!

Open until late

Chez Miné opens its doors this Saturday (14 August) at Bos en Lommerplantsoen 1 in Amsterdam. Open from Thursday to Sunday from 12:00 until late.
