New program by the makers of Keuringsdienst van waarde: Alles op tafel

We just can’t get enough of Keuringsdienst van waarde. The critics have been figuring out for us for (more than 20 years!) how it can be that all pre-packaged slices of cheese are exactly the same size and why mini vegetables are many times more expensive than their larger varieties. The makers of Keuringsdienst van waarde are taking this idea further in the new program Alles op tafel. It reveals the reality behind the food we eat every day. Now that’s something to tuck into!

The selection in the supermarket is overwhelming: tens of thousands of products to choose from. Shelves full of temptations and at least as many questions. Are vegetable crisps healthier than potato chips? Why are herbs in the supermarket so expensive? Are avocados a disaster for the environment? And is 100% Arabica coffee really pure Arabica?
In short: how can you, as a consumer, make the best choice for yourself, the world and your wallet?
Alles op tafel: the recipe
The recipe for the new program Alles op tafel: a colourful greenhouse with a kitchen, host Marijn Frank, chef Ramon Brugman and a shopping bag full of questions. Reporters Anna Gimbrère and Maarten Remmers leave no stone unturned to find out everything about what we consume every day. And with the lab test, no product has any secrets left, from coconut blossom sugar to crisps: is what the packaging promises actually true?
A cautious prediction: probably not, because many packages are so misleading that it is almost criminal.
The truth on your plate
We will be sitting on the edge of our seats to see whether this prediction comes true. Every week, chef Ramon Brugman introduces a strange product from the supermarket. Whether it is an expensive vegetable steak that is actually just thinly sliced vegetables, or a ready-to-eat boiled egg treated with lice excrement, Ramon brings along dubious discoveries.
Presenter Marijn Frank is surprised and amazed by the knowledge of this ‘everything-eater and everything-knower’ and discusses the truth behind the products on our plates with various experts and specialists.
Alles op tafel will be broadcast for six weeks from Monday 15 July, at around 19:55 on KRO-NCRV on NPO 2.
