New Ramen Hotspot in Amsterdam West

The entire ramen culture is hip and getting hipper all the time. More and more restaurants are popping up where you can eat ramen, and the ramen itself is getting better and better. You won’t hear us complaining. Especially not now that this autumn we can also eat at Sapporo Ramen in the Baarsjes area of Amsterdam.

Sapporo Ramen SORA

This autumn, with the exact date yet to be announced, the second Sapporo Ramen location will open. So far, the only location has been on the Ceintuurbaan in Amsterdam’s Pijp neighbourhood, and it is always packed. Recently, you can also eat Izakaya-style there. That means: small bites enjoyed with drinks. Think of it as a kind of happy hour, but even more delicious.

At the new location in Oud-West, in the Baarsjes area to be precise, you can feast on ramen in all shapes and sizes. How about shio ramen? It’s seasoned with salt. Or shoyu? Seasoned with soy sauce? Or perhaps miso? If the choices make your head spin, we’ll help you find your way through the ramen maze. If you don’t know anything about ramen-eating etiquette at all, watch this ‘how to eat ramen’ video

The ramen comes with pork, chicken and vegetable broths, plus various toppings that will make your mouth water. Also not to be missed: the tsukemen ramen. The base for these noodles is a mix made with miso and pork broth, with gyokai, a broth made from dried seafood. This gives the broth a hint of smoked fish. With tsukemen, you get the ramen and broth separately, dipping them bite by bite. Time to slurp.
