New York Pizza is sending its first delivery driver into space
Hey, New York Pizza — I never want to hear you say again that my postcode is outside your delivery area. Because that’s simply nonsense. In fact, my first job was with you as a telephone operator and then as a pizza maker (the best, if I do say so myself), and in that first role I often had to disappoint people. “Sorry, but we don’t deliver there…” Admittedly, that was seventeen years ago, and apparently you’ve made quite a few leaps since then. Or flights.
Because New York Pizza is going into space. The plan is for 2023, so if this is your ambition: apply as a pizza delivery driver right away.
Where are all the delivery drivers?!
This really is the ultimate stunt for luring people into your company. Because that’s the ultimate goal: New York Pizza needs more delivery drivers. There are now more than 500 vacancies open, which also means that people might have to wait a very long time for their pizza, and of course that would be a disaster. Now, I don’t have a driving licence and I already have a job, otherwise I would have applied in a heartbeat. But I can still make pizza like the best of them, so I’d be happy to fill in for you sometime again.
The plan is as follows: of all the people who apply, one lucky winner will be allowed to go into space on the next space flight in 2023. You’re basically robbing yourself of money if you don’t do it, because you earn money by working and can also go into space for free, for the price of a ticket worth thousands of euros. Maybe I’ll sign up after all.
