OMG: is this proof that Wingstop is coming to the Netherlands?
This is honestly the best news of the week for me, what am I saying: of the month. Maybe even of the year, although I don’t know yet whether we’ll be able to enjoy it this year. But it really does seem that way: Wingstop is finally coming to the Netherlands. Not long ago, I wrote about the American chains I wanted to see in the Netherlands as soon as possible, and of course this one was on that list too, but it looks like we may soon be able to tick it off.
A search on Google taught me that a private limited company was set up for Wingstop Netherlands at the end of last year, in October 2023. PARTY.
Why Wingstop is so delicious
I first ate it in London and I still dream about it; this is seriously so delicious. As the name suggests, it’s mainly about chicken wings, which come in lots of different flavors. My personal favorites are the Mango Habanero (spicy, though!) and the Garlic Parmesan. The former are wings marinated in the sauce, while the latter is a so-called dry rub. Other flavors include Spicy Korean, Original and Lemon Pepper.
Lemon Pepper is also an option as a fry seasoning and is absolutely phenomenal: once you’ve had the Lemon Pepper Fries, you won’t want anything else. They also have truly divine ranch (it would be wonderful if we finally got good ranch in the Netherlands), chicken tenders, boneless wings and, recently, even a chicken burger.
Will the first Wingstop in the Netherlands be located here?
Read it for yourself on the Oozo website. It says that the company was set up in October last year (2023), and that one person is currently employed there. And… that the address is Schiphol Boulevard. To be precise: Schiphol Boulevard 359WTC, D-Toren. Schiphol’s D-Toren is full of offices, so there’s a very good chance they’ll establish a Dutch headquarters here, but it also seems quite plausible to me that the first location will be at Schiphol.
But that’s pure speculation: it seems logical to me to open the first location as close as possible to the headquarters, and Schiphol is of course a logical location as well. Just as a reminder: Starbucks’ first location was also at Schiphol; it opened in 2007. That one was behind customs, by the way (the first one before customs opened in 2009), and I wouldn’t be surprised if the same happens with Wingstop.
But still: Wingstop is coming to the Netherlands. FINALLY.
